12 Sep Faces of Team NCBoots: Brandon Falls and Hayleigh Miller, Team Ashville
I was born and raised in a small town called Grover that has a population of just a little over 700 people. I grew up the middle son of three boys and both of my parents raised us to be the best we can be. I went to school at Kings Mountain High School where I played football for four years and am now in my junior year at Western Carolina University. I’m a political science major on a pre-law track with a double minor in biology and leadership. I have always been very passionate about what I wanted to do in life. Once I set my mind to do something, I would pursue it fully and whole heartedly.
I grew up wanting to work for NASA and the space program helping train astronauts for missions like the one set to go to Mars. I then heard about the massive budget cuts to NASA, along with the loss of jobs to follow. In my sophomore year of high school, I went to be a North Carolina House of Representatives Page, igniting my interest in politics. For a week, I sat and watched government at work. After that, I knew that’s what I wanted to now pursue as a career.
I heard about the opportunity to join Team NCBoots from a fellow student who took the same opportunity, and it took little thought to say yes and get started. I aspire to be a great politician and lawyer one day as I advocate for what is “right” one day, but until then, I’m excited to helping our Republican candidates during this historic election.
Growing up in a small, conservative town, I was always reminded of how values influence government. My parents raised me with very strong values especially in faith – going to Sunday school and church every single week. Another major influence on my life was my grandfather, who taught me to not only hold tight to my faith but also the importance of caring about the political process. As I grew older I realized how the two were intertwined and the impact they both had on my life and future.
I always told my grandfather I would somehow get involved in politics. That’s why when I heard about Team NCBoots, I was very eager to get the chance to do my part as a young Republican. I saw a great opportunity to change the way my town, state, and country was run and knew I had to be a part of it.
What I love most about this experience is being so involved with our community and sharing information about the Republican Party. There’s nothing I love more than getting to do something beneficial for my community and meeting new neighbors. Team NCBoots has opened the door for me to get involved with politics and now even more, I see this as something I’d like to do for the rest of my life.
